This delightful caviar is produced from the roe of wild Alaskan sockeye salmon. Every year thousands of sockeye salmon come back to the pristine rivers of south-east Alaska to spawn the next generation. There in the local fish processing facilities sockeye roe is cured according to Russian malossol tradition. The grains of this caviar are small, its color is dark-red and the taste is clean and delicate. Salt content is very low, verging on 2.5%. This caviar makes a great garnish for many a dish.

Very pleased. This is the first time I’ve tried sockeye caviar and was a little skeptical because of the economical price and some sources indicating that this species has a slightly bitter aftertaste, but the quality and flavor is very good. In fact, I rather liked the smaller size roe in comparison to pink salmon caviar.

I used to buy this caviar in my local Russian deli, but am glad I since discovered it online. Better prices and fresher.
